Five things to know before you test drive the 01

The best way to understand the 01 is to drive it. But a good test drive is less about flooring it and more about noticing the small things — the seat that doesn't fight you, the screen that doesn't shout, the way the cabin gets quieter at speed instead of louder.

1. Sit before you start

Take a minute in the seat with the door closed. Notice the materials, the line of the dash, where your eye lands. The 01 was designed to feel calm — give yourself a moment to feel that.

2. Drive a route you know

Pick a road you drive every week. The route matters more than the distance — familiar roads are where you'll feel the difference.

3. Try the small inputs

  • Light braking at low speed — feel how the regenerative system handles it.
  • A single sharp lane change — notice the body control.
  • A long, gentle throttle — listen to how the hybrid system hands off.

4. Ask the long-ownership questions

Service intervals. Software updates. What's covered in the first three years. The car answers most short-term questions on its own. The long-term ones are worth asking out loud.

5. Drive twice

First drives are about emotion. Second drives are about fit.

If you can, book a second slot — ideally at a different time of day. You'll notice things you missed the first time, and the conversation with the team gets sharper too.
